The citizens who must apply for the Green Card are those who, coming from a member country of the EU, from any state that is part of the Agreement on the EEA or from Switzerland, are going to reside in Spanish territory for a period of more than three months. These individuals are required to request their registration in the Central Registry of Foreigners.
The popularly called Green Card, is the document that certifies the registration, and with its obtaining, foreigners may operate in Spain, complying with current legislation.
- If you do not have a NIE: The citizen who processes the Green Card will not have to process the NIE, since this document carries its automatic assignment.
- If you have a NIE: The citizen who processes the Green Card must provide his NIE to be able to associate both documents.
