NIE application process
(for non-residents in Spain)

To operate in Spain with full guarantees and rights or to buy a new home, you will need to apply for the Foreigner Identification Number (NIE). This administrative document is mandatory for all foreign citizens who want to operate administratively or privately in Spain.

Obtaining and owning the NIE is mandatory for you to comply with current legislation, and it will be necessary to obtain it to carry out administrative, civil or commercial procedures in our country. Both EU citizens and non-EU citizens must obtain it.

Moments when you may need it:

To buy personal properties and / or properties in Spain.
To open a bank account, start activity in a company, be an administrator or partner in a business, or to register as a self-employed person.
To make a will or to register in the Municipal Register.

Monday to Thursday from 09:00 am to 02:00 pm and from 04:00 pm to 07:00 pm. Friday from 09:00 am to 03:00 pm
July - August: 09:00 am to 03:00 pm
